Who We Are
An Independent, Alumni-Led Organization
"An independent Chevening alumni-led organization, inspired by Chevening values, empowering young people through education, leadership and meaningful impact."
Chevening Youth Hub was founded by Chevening scholars and alumni who wanted to extend the values and opportunities of the Chevening experience to young people more broadly. We are a community-led organization, governed by the people who built it and accountable to the communities we serve.
Our governance structures reflect our belief that good leadership begins with good governance — and that the organizations best placed to serve communities are those that hold themselves to the highest standards of transparency, integrity and accountability.
Independence notice: Chevening Youth Hub is not an official body of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) or the Chevening Secretariat. We operate independently and do not represent or speak on behalf of the official Chevening Scholarship programme.
Administrative & Legal Framework
Our Structural Foundation
Chevening Youth Hub operates within a clear administrative and legal framework designed to ensure accountability, protect our community and support our mission.
Organizational Structure
We operate as an independent, alumni-led organization with a defined leadership team responsible for strategic direction, programme delivery and community engagement.
Data Protection
We comply with applicable data protection legislation. Our Privacy & Terms policy sets out in full how we collect, use, store and protect personal information.
Financial Accountability
All funds received by Chevening Youth Hub are used in direct support of our mission. We maintain clear financial records and are committed to responsible stewardship of all resources.
Conflict of Interest
We maintain a register of interests for all leadership team members. Any conflict of interest must be declared and, where appropriate, the relevant individual will recuse themselves from related decisions.
Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of the young people we work with is our highest priority. We have safeguarding policies in place and all team members working with young people are appropriately vetted.
Institutional Independence
While proudly rooted in and inspired by the wider global Chevening community, Chevening Youth Hub operates as an independent organisation. We are not an official representative, affiliate or agent of the UK Government, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), or the Chevening Secretariat. Our independent governance enables us to pursue our mission and make decisions in line with our values and the needs of the young people we serve.
Six Pillars of Good Governance
Our Governance Principles
Our governance is built on six pillars that together define how we operate, how we make decisions and how we hold ourselves accountable.
01
Transparency
We communicate openly about our decisions, finances, activities and impact. Our community deserves to understand how we operate and why.
02
Accountability
We hold ourselves responsible for our actions and their consequences. We welcome scrutiny and respond to feedback with honesty and care.
03
Integrity
We act with honesty and consistency in everything we do. Our values are not aspirational — they are operational.
04
Inclusion
Our governance reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We actively seek perspectives from across our network and ensure no voice is marginalised.
05
Effectiveness
Good governance is not bureaucracy for its own sake. Our structures exist to help us achieve our mission more reliably and with greater impact.
06
Ethical Leadership
We lead by example. Every decision we make is guided by our commitment to the wellbeing of the young people we serve and the communities we work within.
How Our Principles Guide Us
We communicate openly
We share information about our activities, decisions and finances in a timely and accessible way.
We act with consistency
Our values are applied consistently across all our work, regardless of context or audience.
We welcome scrutiny
We invite feedback, questions and challenge as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.
We protect the vulnerable
The safety and dignity of the young people we serve is always our first consideration.
We honour our commitments
When we make a promise to our community, we keep it — or we explain clearly why circumstances have changed.
How We Make Decisions
Our Decision-Making Process
We use a structured, consensus-based approach to decision-making that ensures all relevant voices are heard before any significant resolution is reached.
Identify the issue
Any team member may raise a matter for discussion. Issues are logged and assigned to the appropriate decision-making level.
Gather information
Relevant data, stakeholder perspectives and precedents are collected to inform the discussion.
Consult stakeholders
Where a decision affects our community, we seek input from those affected before reaching a conclusion.
Deliberate collectively
The leadership team discusses the matter openly, with all relevant interests declared and managed appropriately.
Reach consensus
We aim for consensus. Where consensus is not possible, decisions are made by a clear majority with dissenting views recorded.
Document and communicate
All significant decisions are documented. Summaries are shared with our community where appropriate.
Review and learn
We review the outcomes of significant decisions and use what we learn to improve our processes.

How We Expect Everyone to Behave
Our community standards apply to all team members, volunteers, partners and participants in our programmes and events.

Our Commitment
Committed to Transparency
Our Promise to Our Community
We commit to governing Chevening Youth Hub with the same values we seek to instil in the young leaders we support: transparency, integrity, accountability and a genuine commitment to the communities we serve.
We will always be honest about what we do, how we do it, and why. We will listen to our community, act on feedback, and hold ourselves to the highest standards of ethical leadership.
When we fall short — as all organizations sometimes do — we will acknowledge it, learn from it and do better.
"We are accountable to the communities we serve, and we take that responsibility seriously."
